亚美登录,亚美网页版:BUCEA Professor LI Aiqun Receives State Scientific and Technological Progress Award

On July 8, a meeting, which brings together the national science and technology award conference, the general assemblies of the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the 11th national congress of the China Association for Science and Technology, was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. XI Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, presented awards to the recipients of the nation’s highest scientific honor and other national award winners, and delivered an important speech.

Professor LI Aiqun of the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) was a key contributor to the project “Key Technologies and Applications for Sensing, Prediction, and Coordinated Control of Strong Wind and Typhoon Effects on Long-Span Bridges”, which received the Second Prize of the 2025 State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

Award-Winning Achievement

Project Title: Key Technologies and Applications for Sensing, Prediction, and Coordinated Control of Strong Wind and Typhoon Effects on Long-Span Bridges

The project has been applied to more than 100 long-span bridges, including 16 world-class bridges, such as the Sutong Yangtze River Bridge, the world’s first cable-stayed bridge with a main span exceeding 1,000 meters; the Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge, the world’s first high-speed railway suspension bridge; and the Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge, which has the world’s longest suspension bridge span. The technologies have also been extended to projects including the Beijing Olympic Tower and support for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, significantly enhancing wind resistance and operational safety while delivering substantial economic and social benefits.

A total of 258 projects and 11 scientists were recognized in the 2025 National Science and Technology Awards. The awards included 2 Top Science and Technology Awards, 51 State Natural Science Awards (3 First Prizes and 48 Second Prizes), 58 State Technological Invention Award (3 First Prizes and 55 Second Prizes), 149 State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (3 Special Prizes, 13 First Prizes, and 133 Second Prizes), and 9 China International Science and Technology Cooperation Awards.
